Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Adult Version teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use challenges in adults. This training provides you with skills needed to reach out, provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to appropriate care.

Join the more than 2.6 million people across the United States have been trained in MHFA by a dedicated base of more than 15,000 Instructors. 

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • identify risk factors and warning signs for mental health challenges
  • implement strategies to assist in a crisis or non-crisis situation
  • identify local and national support resources for mental health support

Course Format: In-person and virtual options available

How MHFA Works:

  • 8 hours of learning, discussion and activities led by Swedish Wellbeing Support Advisor, Melissa Schleicher, LCPC, BC-DMT, CFRC.
  • The Virtual Instructor Led portion of this course will be held on Friday, May 10 from 8:30am – 4:30pm

What it Costs:

  • $25 fee per participant

Fee includes:

  • Access to online self-paced coursework (minimal pre and post work)
  • Interactive instructor led class
  • Course materials, including a print manual
  • Online Participant Processing Guide and resources
  • 3-Year Mental Health First Aid certification
  • Two weeks prior to the in-person session, you will receive an email titled "MHFA: Let’s get started!" that will contain log-in information and instructions for completing your minimal pre-work.

**IMPORTANT NOTE: No one will be denied attendance to a Mental Health First Aid training due to lack of access to technology needed for the pre and post work. The instructor will work with those who need assistance with internet or computer access to acquire the support needed to attend MHFA.**
