Swedish Hospital's ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of eye problems, diseases and injuries.

Eye Care Services

Ophthalmologists can diagnose and treat eye diseases. Services offered at Swedish Hospital include:

  • Treating diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma
  • Prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses
  • Treating eye injuries
  • Performing eye surgeries, such as:
    • Cataract removal
    • Glaucoma correction
    • LASIK surgery
Ophthalmologists may further specialize in care of the retina (retina specialist) or in the care of children with eye problems (pediatric ophthalmologist).

Our Ophthalmology Team

Brewer, ErikaErika Brewer, M.D.,  is a board-certified ophthalmologist. Her clinical interests include cataract surgery, laser eye surgery and macular degeneration. Dr. Brewer speaks English and Spanish. 
Troy CloseTroy W. Close, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist. His clinical interests include cataract surgery, comprehensive ophthalmology, general ophthalmology, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology.
