Certified Nurse-Midwives in Chicago

The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) recently designated Swedish Covenant Medical Group’s Midwifery Practice an ACNM Best Practice facility for “Triple Aim” achievement. This recognition acknowledges Swedish Covenant Medical Group’s Midwifery Practice for improving population health and patient experience while reducing cost of care associated with midwifery services.

“This national recognition reflects the fact that we have remained true to our mission of partnering with women to provide a holistic approach to health care through fostering a supportive and empowering atmosphere with open communication,” said Allison Manko, MSN, CNM, co-director of the Midwifery Group which is part of the Swedish Covenant Medical Group (SCMG). “Our Midwifery Group is proud to have once again earned a “Best Practice” designation.”

To earn “Triple Aim” Best Practice, the SCMG Midwifery Group achieved an average primary cesarean birth rate of 10%, preterm birth rate of 3% and an exclusive breastfeeding rate within the first 48 hours of 83%. The Midwifery Group also was pleased to report a 90% success rate of vaginal births after C-sections. Last year, the SCMG Midwifery Group was the first in Chicago to earn the “Triple Aim” Best Practices designation. This year, they are one of only two midwifery groups in the city to earn this recognition.

“We are pleased that our practice continues to exceed national measures in many important areas of childbirth,” said Katherine Willey, CNM, co-director of the SCMG Midwifery Group. “Our board-certified nurse-midwives strive to provide women with personalized care and education to empower them to be involved in their own health care.”

Swedish Covenant Medical Group’s board-certified nurse-midwives specialize in pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and well-woman care to partner with women andempower them to be involved in their health care through education and communication.
