  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Guillain-Barre Syndrome
  • ALS—Lou Gehrig’s disease
  • Head and brain injuries

The Way We Work With You

Patients are seen one to three times per week based on physician and therapist recommendations. The length of these sessions is determined upon what services you need, including any combination of physical therapy, speech therapy and/or occupational therapy.

Swedish Hospital’s program goes above and beyond by partnering with you through:

    One-on-One Sessions

We believe that it’s of the utmost importance for you to receive the full attention of your therapist. When receiving physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy, you receive the individualized treatment you deserve. Groups may be minimally utilized for activities such as community re-entry, stroke club, aphasic coaching, cognitive group and extra appointments or set-up exercise sessions.

    Community Re-entry

Unique weekly outings and activities build confidence in your ability to return to a normal quality of life. Whether going grocery shopping, or cooking a full meal in Swedish Hospital’s Activities of Daily Living apartment, you will practice skills essential to everyday living.

    “Set-Up” Time

A time designated specifically for you to work on safe exercise activities independently or with caregivers and interns to put your exercises to practical use.

    At-Home Exercises

Provided by the your therapists to continue your rehabilitation even on days when you do not have therapy.

    Convenient Scheduling

Sessions are scheduled at the same time each week to help you keep track of your appointments and bypass the hassle of scheduling their visits after each session. The various disciplinary sessions—physical, occupational and speech—are scheduled back to back to prevent you from having to make multiple trips.
