Denny Recovers From Rare
Autoimmune Disorder to Learn to Walk Again

Denny E. first came to Swedish Hospital’s emergency room with severe back pain. While there, doctors discovered he was also suffering from Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare disorder that causes the immune system to begin attacking a patient’s nerves. After losing most of the feeling in his legs, it took the expertise and teamwork of Swedish Hospital’s acute inpatient rehabilitation staff to help him achieve independent living and manage his pain.
