Hospitality Volunteer

Do you love brightening up someone's day? Talking to people? Then the hospitality volunteer role might be perfect for you. Concierge volunteers are given a bag of complimentary patient comfort items to offer patients while they stay at Swedish Covenant Hospital

The ideal candidate is able to consistently come for a few days for two to three hours at a time.

Unique Requirements

We will ask this volunteer to walk to different units of the hospital, so you must be comfortable walking.

Story-Igniter Volunteer

At Swedish Covenant Health, we have patients with amazing stories and are looking for writers who want to help bring them to life! We pride ourselves on building human kindness through our communication and interactions. After your interview with the patient, you will spend time in the volunteer office crafting your story which will then be given or mailed to the patient as a memory of the time you spent with them.

The ideal candidate is available to come in when the Volunteer Department has identified a patient who is willing to share their story. We would work with you to schedule a time to visit the patient room. Our goal is to collect as many great stories as we can about our amazing community.

Unique Requirements

An example of a writing piece you have completed either personally or professionally.

Visual Arts Volunteer

As a graphic designer/copywriter volunteer you will help with projects that focus on new marketing initiatives or materials that help our patients understand their health care information. This position would be ideal for an individual who is currently in a graphic design/copy writer program and wants to practice their skills.

Schedule is flexible.

Unique Requirements

Volunteers must bring some examples of their previous projects to the interview. Swedish Covenant Health uses CANVA and Adobe VIP software.

ED Volunteer

Have you or a loved one ever needed to go to the ER? It can be a very scary and busy place. Nurses and doctors are dealing with life-threatening cases and multi-tasking on many tasks. Imagine if someone was available to help field questions while the medical staff treats other patients. The ED lobby volunteer acts as that resource.

This volunteer can help patients find the bathroom, the cafeteria or where a phone is located and be a liaison with the staff if they need to be alerted of a patient’s questions/concerns. Sometimes families need to be directed to other parts of the hospital. This volunteer can guide them to the right location and free them of worrying about getting lost and much more. Some of our best stories come from patients and families who are so grateful for the ED Lobby volunteers who provide that extra support during an emotionally distressing time.

Schedule is flexible.

Unique Requirements

Must be over 18 yrs old to volunteer in this department

Role: Patient Advisor Volunteer Role

Do you have a passion for health care? Maybe you have been a patient at hospital recently? This
volunteer position would collaborate with our patient experience department to bring the patient’s voice to
organizational improvement projects. We might ask volunteer advisers to assess how we deliver our service standards to our patients or how can we improve in certain service areas to better meet patient expectations. We are better together!

This volunteer role would be a project by project commitment. This is a great position for volunteers
who can’t give a week to week commitment but are available on a monthly basis.

Unique Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, we ask that these volunteers are 18 years old or older.

Flower Delivery Delight Volunteer

In collaboration with the non-profit “Random Act of Flowers”, we deliver between 30-50 surprises vases
of beautiful flowers to patient rooms across campus. This is by far one of our favorite experiences to share with patients. The flowers help light up the room and bring some joy in the patient’s day, as well as help promote a healing environment.

Occurs every other month, on Thursdays at noon for 90 minutes to two hours.

Unique requirements:

This position requires pushing around a flower cart. Since this is a low time commitment, we do ask that you stay on for at least a year in this position.
